About Sun Siyam

Since opening our first resort over 20 years ago, Sun Siyam Resorts has grown to own and manage five luxury private island properties in the Maldives and a boutique beach retreat on the East Coast of Sri Lanka.

Each is unique, but what unites them all is the genuine warmth and heartfelt hospitality of our people, many of whom have been with us since the beginning.

At Sun Siyam Resorts we think of ourselves as one family, and we look forward to welcoming you to our six island homes.

Beginning

With our roots firmly established in promoting inbound tourism to the Maldives, Sun Siyam Travels was established in 1990. Our knowledgeable and passionate team are the reason it has now grown to become one of the leading tour operators and travel agents in the country.

1990-2000

We unveiled Sun Siyam Vilu Reef in 1998, and as our first resort in the Maldives, it holds a very special place in our hearts. Many team members have been there since the opening, and proudly welcome back our loyal guests who return year after year.

2000-2010

By unveiling two new resorts in the Maldives, we firmly established ourselves as a leading luxury resort owner and operator in the country. Sun Siyam Olhuveli was opened in 2002, followed by Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, in 2008.

2010-2020

2014 saw us open our first resort outside of the Maldives with the launch of Sun Siyam Pasikudah, a five-star beach retreat on the stunning east coast of Sri Lanka. In 2018 we added a fourth Maldivian resort to our collection, Sun Siyam Iru Veli.

2020

Siyam World welcomed its very first guests in 2021, and is set to completely redefine the way people vacation in the Maldives. Showcasing the most extensive lineup of facilities, services and experiences in the country, this is a private island resort unlike any other.

Hon. FDr. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed founded the company in 1990. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Sun Siyam Group.
